About.

Yoko Ikeno was born and raised just outside of Tokyo but now lives in New York. She spent a few years as an assistant to fashion designers in Milan and Paris. It was only when she moved to New York in 1998 that she first began combining her knowledge and skills of both fashion and fine art. She has now become a full time illustrator.

This was the first image of artist Yoko Ikeno that I saw, I really liked it. I think the red works really well because the image itself is quite bland but the bold colour brings out the detail and creates this typically elegant drawing. If I were to recreate this, I think I would look into using a tablet.

I don't particulary like the colour of the background, it's quite sickly. I don't think the image would work aswell if it had a white background though. Perhaps a different shade or colour would have worked better. The one thing I did like about this picture however, was the single coloured figure and how all the rest were just outlines. It looks like it has been drawn straight on the computer, or maybe hand drawn then scanned in.

The aspect I adore here is the symmetry. Everything is equal apart from the two figures in the door way, so it's going against what most of the image is trying to show. Looking at more of her work I really wouldn't be suprised if she did all her drawings on her computer, at least, they look very digital.
